I believe that the correct answer is D. The boys devotion to their cause has elevated them to a status higher than both books

In "Song of Becoming", Fadwa Tuqan describes how the lives of boys have changed due to the arising Israel-Arab conflict. She states that their happiness decreases as they become older (and become soldiers). At first they spoke the word of love from “Bible” and “Qur'an” (as they are philosophically similar) and afterwards used it to justify their religious beliefs and actions.

Is winning important? State both sides
Andre45 [30]
Yes, winning means showing you can do it, and it feels great to accomplish something! No, winning doesn't make your ability to do anything any less. Some people believe winning is everything, but to win you must lose first and learn.

which mood is created by thoreaus description of the pond A) serenity B) surprise C) amusement D) thankfulness
Arisa [49]
I agree with the person above - I believe the correct answer is A. serenity.
Thoreau was a transcendentalist, which means that he wrote about nature quite a lot. He believed that people should return to living in nature and escape from the concrete cities they were surrounded with in order to find their true selves once again. His description of the pond during the night and day creates a serene and peaceful picture one could relax to.
