why does the thermosphere have the highest temperature of all the atmosphere layers? a. it contains the stratosphere. b. the sun
Luden [163]

Due to its extensive exposure to UV light from the sun, the thermosphere has the highest temperatures. This radiation is absorbed by the matter in the thermosphere giving it high kinetic energy.

What is Thermosphere?

A portion of the Earth's atmosphere known as the thermosphere is situated precisely above the mesosphere and under the exosphere. The thermopause is the line separating the thermosphere from the exosphere above it. The mesopause, which marks the transition between the thermosphere and the mesosphere below, is located at the bottom of the thermosphere.

Despite being a layer of the Earth's atmosphere, the thermosphere is mostly what we typically think of as outer space since the air density is so low in this layer. Due to variations in solar UV light and solar-driven geomagnetic activity, it exhibits high temperatures and significant variability.
