LVN´s/LPN´s are nurses who have not completed a training to acquire an RN title, but are still trained enough to take on responsibilities from RN´s that do not require the level of education and training that RN´s receive. Within the scope of what LVN/LPN´s can do, is the administration of medication during patient activites, and although they must still be under the supervision of RN´s and doctors, these Licensed Vocational Nurses, or Licensed Practical Nurses, have the training to administer medication. However, measuring patient vitals is an activity that is best suited for less trained personnel, as is the UAP, and teaching is a task that can only be performed by an RN given an RN´s level of education and preparation.
