The United States thought that it had solved its problems after assuming independence, but the tension between the northern and southern states only grew due to differences in relation to slavery. The northern and southern states were completely different, and had very different views on almost everything. Although the act of commitment was implemented, this did not solve the problems, as the states were still very independent and created ways to circumvent these rules.
