This conflict was during the decade of the 70s in the middle of the Cold War, so the influence of the great powers of the moment was fundamental for its development.

Many people of other nationalities participated in this conflict, such as American soldiers and nurses. Many of them left their physical and psychological health seriously affected because participating in such a conflict is traumatic and dangerous.
