The answer is C. If a mother of a 5-year-old informs you that her daughter cheats when playing board games, the mother needs to spend time clarifying board game rules before starting games.

EXPLANATION

A parent's reaction when their children do something wrong is very important. Children’s psychosocial well-being is influenced by the individuals that are involved in their upbringing. In many cases, it is their caregivers. Parents’ role in their children’s development is so important.

Caregivers for children may not be their own biological parents. Children can have adoptive parents, older siblings, relatives or non-relatives who play a meaningful role, step-parents, or single parents. The term parent for children doesn’t have to be their own biological parents. The term parent can include a lot of meaning. Basically, a parent to children is the most available caregiver in a children’s life. A parent needs to have a consistent relationship with the child. Therefore, a parent’s purpose is to always make their children live with well-being and stability.

To be a good parent, it is important to apply positive parenting. Positive parenting means that the parent does the teaching, communicating, caring, leading, and providing for the child. The parents do this consistently and unconditionally. With the question above, the mother of the 5 years old shouldn’t just punish the child. The mother needs to give guidance to the child by explaining about the boardgame rules more so that the child will not cheat again.

Several cases of children who grew up in extreme social isolation, such as the case of Genie in 1970, suggest that most of our mental capacities, and perhaps even the ability to think, are learned through social interaction.

There have been a number of cases of feral children raised in social isolation with little or no human contact. Few have captured public and scientific attention like that of a young girl called Genie Wiley. She spent almost her entire childhood locked in a bedroom, isolated and abused for over a decade.

Genie's case was one of the first to put the critical period theory to the test. Could a child reared in utter deprivation and isolation develop language? Could a nurturing environment make up for a horrifying past?

This article discusses Genie's life, her treatment, and the impact that abuse and deprivation had on her language development. It also covers the ethical problems with her case.

Discovery and Study (1970-1975)

Genie's story came to light on November 4, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. A social worker discovered the 13-year old girl after her mother sought out services for her own health. The social worker soon discovered that the girl had been confined to a small room, and an investigation by authorities quickly revealed that the child had spent most of her life in this room, often tied to a potty chair.
