Why were monopolies bad for the economy and how did the rich take advantage?
pochemuha

Answer:

Monopolies are bad for the economy because lack of competition allows a few to set prices, stagnate competition.

Explanation:

How did the rich take advantage:

The rich had ready capital to either buy out smaller competitors or drive them out with undercut prices until the competitor failed, then prices to consumer went back up even higher.

It happened in the early industrial revolution:  Rockefeller/Standard Oil,

Carnegie and JP Morgan= Steel industry

Still going on today, especially in the tech arena.

Able to manipulate what we buy, the way we think, etc.

We need to be responsible, situationally aware consumers.

Why would people in a caravan be glad to see an oasis
anygoal [31]
People in a caravan are glad to see an oasis, because they usually traveled in deserts. There are limited amount of water located in a desert, and animals and humans cannot survive without water. Whenever they see a oasis, they are happy, because not only does it supply them with water, but it may also draw game (animals that could be eaten) to that area, which provides both water and food

hope this helps

According to Washington, why is the United States unique among nations of the world?
jolli1 [7]

Answer:

Some historians hold that the Proclamation of Neutrality was Washington's most important decision as president. American energies were needed for building, not warring. Washington understood this better than most of his fellow citizens. He gave his country the time it needed
