Advancements in the economy helped the economy because as things were invented, people wanted to make their lives easier. Or another thing was certain advancements allowed the ability to produce product in large amounts to sell. For example the printing press could allow books to be purchased at a faster rate.
B to improve working conditions

In such, the government controlled all aspects of religious life and what sorts of materials would pass muster as being "proper" and what viewpoints would be considered "non-threatening" to the health of the nation. Any belief systems that were outside of this were considered verboten.</span>
Although this is a broad generalization, it is farily accurate. The 1950s were an incredible stable and thriving period for the US, as people returned from the war with higher spending power and nice suburban homes. The 60s brought a "counter culture" that tried to upset this norm.
It was considered humane and democratic because it was developed as a humane method of execution, leading to the origins of the French guillotine dating back to late 1789 when Dr.Joseph ignace Guillotin proposed that the French government adapt to a gentler method of execution.
