Explain the title, Soldier’s Heart. What do you think the author is trying to say about war and its effects on people?

Soldiers generally have to endure more than the average person.  They experience violence, tragedy, and death firsthand in the battlefield or in combat.  Soldiers are often also known for being selfless and putting others first and trying to save others lives before their own. So to say "Soldier's Heart" means that someone is a hardened, but good person.
