Isaac, the son of Abraham, took Rebekah as his wife when he was 40 years old (Gen. 25:20). After 20 years, Rebecca was pregnant for the first time (Gen 25:26). In her womb were two twins who fought each other, which prompted Rebecca to consult with God, who told her that from their children would come two peoples of which one would be servant of the other (Gen. 25:23).

Esau was born first, being therefore the firstborn and then Jacob was born (Gen 25: 25-28). Isaac had a preference for Esau because of his hunting skills and Rebecca had a preference for Jacob.

This preference for Jacob is what led Rebecca to commit sin. When Isaac was old, he decided to give his blessing to his son Esau because he was his firstborn son, not knowing that Esau had despised his birthright and had sold it to Jacob for a plate of lentils and a little bread (Gen. 25: 29- 3. 4).

When Rebekah heard Isaac telling Esau to go out to hunt and make a stew for him because he was going to give her his blessing, she went ahead and ordered Jacob to dress up with his brother to deceive Isaac and receive Jacob. blessing (Gen 27: 11-13).

Jacob went to the cattle and brought two kids. His mother Rebeca cooked and made a stew with the kids, took his leather and fur to put it in the hands of Jacob, who was hairless, to make him look hairy like his brother and also dressed Jacob with the clothes of Esau (Gen 27: 15-17).

Jacob appeared before his father Isaac pretending to be Esau and could deceive him. Isaac gave Jacob a great blessing by telling him among other things that his offspring would rule by his brother (Gen 27: 18-29).

When Esau returned from hunting, he learned what had happened and also asked for his blessing. Isaac gave him the best blessing he could without undoing the blessing he had already extended to Jacob (Gen 27:40).

Esau decided to take revenge against Jacob by killing him. Rebecca heard Esau's plan and ordered Jacob to go into exile in the house of his brother Laban. Jacob gave an additional blessing to Jacob and sent him to his uncle's house, ordering him to take a wife from among his daughters (Gen 27: 41-46).

Finally Esau could not kill Jacob, the blessing was fulfilled for both of them in the future, and Rebecca suffered the consequence of not being able to see her favorite son anymore (Gen. 28: 1-5, 33:15).
