2x+y=2 and y =-2x-1 how many solutions does this system have? (System of Equations)

Answer:

No solutions

Step-by-step explanation:

First you'll want to rewrite one equation so both can be in the same form:

2x+y=2 becomes y=-2x+2, I just subtracted 2x from both sides

Now you have y=-2x+2 and y=-2x-1. Just by looking at the two equations you can tell they share the same slope and the only thing different is the y-intercept. This system has 0 solutions because they are parallel lines; they will never meet or intersect.

Answer:

No Solutions

Step-by-step explanation:

I used a graphing tool to graph the two lines. When graph, the lines are parallel, and they do not intercept at any point. They have no solution.

The following figure is a rhombus. Find the value of m. Then, use that value to find the measure of VW
maxonik [38]

Answer:

  • m=8
  • The length of VW = 36 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that a rhombus is a quadrilateral with four sides. All four sides have the same length.

From the diagram, it is clear that

  • The length of VW= 6m-12
  • The length of WX = 4m+4

As all the four sides of the rhombus have equal length.

So we can observe

VW=WX

6m-12 = 4m+4

Add 12 to both sides

6m-12+12=4m+4+12

6m=4m+16

2m=16

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{2m}{2}=\frac{16}{2}

m=8

so

The length of VW= 6m-12

                             = 6(8)-12  ∵ m=8

                              = 48-12

                              = 36

Thereofore, the length of VW = 36 units.

5y + 3 = 2y - 3x + 5 as a function in "y=..." form (please show work)
vlabodo [156]
Hey there!

In order to solve this equation for y, you need to use addition, subtraction, and division to combine and simplify the terms. You do this by first eliminating the terms, which you do by completing whatever will make each term equal to zero. Then, you'll repeat this same thing on the other side of the equation, like so:

5y + 3 = 2y – 3x + 5
     – 3                 – 3

5y = 2y – 3x + 2

As you can see, I subtracted three from +3 the left side to cancel it out, then repeated that on the right side to the similar term (the constant). Now, just repeat that with your other terms until your equation is equal to y.

   5y = 2y – 3x + 2
+ 2y + 2y

7y = –3x + 2
7          7

y = –3x + 2
            7

When you can't simplify any more, you have your answer. y will be equal to –3x + 2 over 7.

Hope this helped you out! :-)
