Chaos ensued when Brewster Zoo first implemented a new approach to exhibiting animals in common areas designed to simulate their

natural environments. One particular zoo exhibit featured the Brazilian rainforest. Soon after the exhibit was created, zoo workers realized that the anacondas were preying upon the spider monkeys. Around the clock, the spider monkeys shrieked loudly and constantly moved in attempts to ward off the anacondas. Zoo officials decided to keep the different creatures in separate places to avoid any future problems. Which of the following alternatives to the underlined portion would NOT be acceptable?

Answer:

The alternative to the underlined portion that would NOT be acceptable is pens.

Explanation:

Three out of the four given options refer to something similar, like yards, enclosures and cages can be used to represent a limited area or surrounded area that is used for a specific purpose, which is the general topic of the paragraph about the new organization in Brewster Zoo, the option pens does not have relation to the topic.

Animals can not be kept in enclosures if they are to be kept in separate places.

Answer: Option 3.

Explanation:

Zoo is a place where the animals are kept for the public to have a look at them, observe their behavior and learn about them. There are a number of zoos in the world where there are variety of species that the people who visit the zoo, get to see.

If the Brewster zoo has decided that it will not keep the animals in the common places and it has to place the animals in separate places, then it can not keep the animals in the enclosures. Because this is again a way in which the animals are kept together wit each other. In this, all the animals are housed together for the people to see.
