The basic structure of a volcano consists of a magma chamber, central vent and crater. Other elements are: pipe, side vent and lava flow. Magma chamber is the pocket beneath a volcano where magma collects. Central vent is the central opening through which molten rock and gas leave a volcano. The crater is a bowl-shaped area that forms around a volcano's central opening.
