When relating to technology, a quarantine is when your antivirus software isolates -corrupted files to a secure location so they cannot infect nearby files.
A quarantine, in non-technological terms, is similar in that it is the isolation of a person with a contagious illness until they recover, so that they cannot spread their disease to anyone else.
