Answer:

The discriminant of the quadratic equation is 24 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Discriminant form of the quadratic equation .

D = b² - 4ac

As the quadratic equation in the form.

2x + 5x² = 1

Simplify the above term

5x² + 2x -  1 = 0

As the quadratic equation in the form

ax² + bx + c =0

Here a = 5 , b = 2 , c= -1

put in the formula

D = 2 × 2 - 4× 5 × -1

D = 4 +20

D = 24

Therefore the discriminant of the quadratic equation 5x² + 2x -  1 = 0 is 24 .

5x^2+2x-1=0

Delta equation is:

\Delta =\frac{-b\pm\sqrt(b^2-4ac)}{2a}

but we are interested in b^2-4ac because it determines the discriminant

5^2-4*2*(-1)=25+8=33

33>0

which means that discriminant is positive :)

Slope -8 and y intercept 7
max2010maxim [7]

Answer:

The equation of Line is  y = - 8x + 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The slop of line is - 8

And The y intercept is 7

As the equation of line is y = mx + c

For y intercept , x = 0

So, With y intercept and slop ,

7 = (-8)× (0)+ c

Or, c = 7

So the equation of line is

y = mx + c

I.e  y = ( - 8 ) x + 7

Hence The equation of Line is  y = - 8x + 7       Answer

Rachel has 10 sweets in a bag.
LenKa [72]

Using it's concept, it is found that there is a 0.713 = 71.3% probability that Rachel takes no more than three sweets from the bag.

<h3>What is a probability?</h3>

A probability is given by the <u>number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes</u>.

In this problem, we have that:

  • One sweet, the probability is 3/10.
  • For two, the probability is 7/10 then 3/9.
  • For three, it is 7/10 then 6/9 then 3/8.

So:

p = \frac{3}{10} + \frac{7}{10} \times \frac{3}{9} + \frac{7}{10} \times \frac{6}{9} \times \frac{3}{8} = 0.713

0.713 = 71.3% probability that Rachel takes no more than three sweets from the bag.
