Answer:

In these two excerpts the common idea resides in the fact that these men, who have experienced war and its aftereffects, are unable to verbalize the fact that they had to kill another human being. This, more than anything else about war, traumatizes the characters in both excerpts. This can be seen when in Ambush, the speaker reacts to his daughter´s comment on killing someone and he, overcome by the shame of having to face again the memories of something that happened during the war, lies to his child and reacts to her comment by embracing her instead of talking anymore. In the second excerpt of Symptoms, the soldiers are described as men who can talk willingly about all aspects of war except when they had to face the traumatizing event of killing people. Other than that, they would verbalize their thoughts openly; but not the thoughts of having killed, or witnessed the killing, of other people. This is why the correct answer is 1.

Answer: His meticulous account of his sea voyage to the British Atlantic colonies and subsequent experiences in Pennsylvania has become academically notable, due to the scarcity in primary source material concerning several of the issues he details.[3] Such topics include religious practices in colonial Pennsylvania, European passenger fares for children and adults, as well as the nature and consequences of epidemics on colonial era ships. The work is also noted for its lengthy discussion of sexuality and social mores, including an account of a bigamous threesome and the status of illegitimate children, as evidencing the religious and sexual tolerance of colonial America. plagiarism free 100%

Think about your choices and what they mean.

In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the dark storm flashes back to events are going to become uneasy and scary. We know that a flashback is a scene that has already happened earlier in the story, meaning that this is not the correct answer.

Anecdotes are short stories about a real incident or person, and Frankenstein is a fictional story, meaning this is also not the correct answer.

Transitions would be to change from one scene to another, which wouldn't exactly show that events are going to become uneasy and scary, which leaves us with only one option left.

The correct answer is C. foreshadows. Foreshadowing gives a hint as to what will happen next in the story, which, in this case, would be the dark storm. For further proof of this being the correct answer, I have also taken this quiz and got the answer right. Hope this helped!
