(1) is correct. \mathbf u\cdot\mathbf v=(-14)(0)+(8)(11)=0+88=88

(2) is correct. I assume you just computed the dot product as above, but another way to do it is to notice that \mathbf v\cdot\mathbf v=\|\mathbf v\|^2 (that is, the dot product of a vector with itself is the square of its magnitude). Then since \|\mathbf v\|=\sqrt{1^2+2^2}=\sqrt5, we have \mathbf v\cdot\mathbf v=\|\mathbf v\|^2=5.

(3) is not correct. Since \mathbf u\cdot\mathbf u=\|\mathbf u\|^2=\sqrt{45}, we have \|\mathbf u\|=\sqrt{\sqrt{45}}.

(4) is correct.

2\mathbf u\cdot\mathbf v=2(\mathbf u\cdot\mathbf v)=2((-3)(1)+(6)(2))=2(-3+12)=2(9)=18

a ball is dropped from a height of 20 feet above the ground. The velocity v(s) of the ball after it has travelled a distance of
Lana71 [14]
<h2>We know that</h2>

The initial height is 20 feet above the ground.

The function to model the velocity is

v(s)=60s

Where <em>s</em> represents the distance in feet.

Mathematically, this function has all real numbers as a domain. However, that will no make sense for this situation, because it would use negative numbers for the distance <em>s</em> which does not make sense.

Therefore, the domain, in this case, would be all real numbers greater than or equal to zero, but less than or equal to 20.

<em>The reason for this domain is that the ball will go from 20 feet above the ground to zero feet on the ground.</em>

Using interval notation would be

D\colon\lbrack0,20\rbrack

Select the descriptions that are true of the equation y - 6= - 3(x+2). Select all that apply.
Lapatulllka [165]

The point-slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We have

y-6=-3(x+2)\to y-6=-3(x-(-2))

Therefore

<h3>slope = -3 and the point (-2, 6)</h3>

------------

<h3>y + 2 = 2(x - 1)</h3>

2x - y = 4    <em>it's standard form Ax + By = C</em>

y = 2x - 4     <em>it's slope-intercept form y = mx + b</em>

y - x = 4 →<em> </em>x - y = -4  <em>t's standard form Ax + By = C</em>
