Sweatshops are harsh on their employees. They have poor working conditions, for one. Secondly, they have unfair wages and unreasonable hours. The work is sometimes even difficult of dangerous. There's child labor, too. According to my sources, "In developing countries, an estimated 168 million children ages 5 to 14 are forced to work." There's a severe lack of benefits for the workers as well. So, I would say they hurt the workers rather than help them.
