Stalin made it clear that after the war, he wanted Polish land. The other allies were not for this, but knew that they could not stop him. The only restriction they made him agree to was to let them hold free elections. While Stalin agreed, he did no end up keeping this promise. Thus, the tensions between the Soviet Union and America began.
