The coriolis effect does this. This is a inertial force that acts on objects that are in motion relative to a rotating reference frame. This means that when the earth rotates, objects in the north hemisphere is deflected to the right, while objects in the southern hemisphere are deflected to the left. This makes the winds shift left or right.

Corioliseffect causes ocean surface currents to be deflected from overall wind currents.

Further Explanation:

Coriolis Effect is the deflection of any matter because of Coriolis's force which is a psychophysical perception. The Coriolis Effect plays an important role in the driving of wide-ranging wind currents on the Oceans' surface.

Oceans currents are the continuous directed motion of seawater that is generated by numerous forces acting on the water. The effect influences the direction and intensity of the current. The oceanic currents are primarily horizontal movement of water.

Coriolis Effect drives the oceanic current to a great distance that plays an important role in determining the climatic condition of many regions of the Earth as it influences the humidity of the regions from where it passes.Warm current increases the warmth of the region and cold current decreases the humidity of the region. This phenomenon can be marked in the regions of Gulf Stream.

A tropical storm is classified as major if it has sustained winds greater than 110 miles per hour. Based on data from the past t
True [87]

Answer:

Based on the meteorologist's estimates, the probability of a future tropical storm to originate in the Pacific Ocean and be classified as major is c. 0.17

Explanation:

The total percentage of future tropical storm is 80% which is the sum of tropical storms in the eastern Pacific Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. However, the problem asks for the total probability of being a major storm. In the eastern Pacific Ocean, it would be 0.045 which is 15% of 30 (total tropical storms in the eastern Pacific Ocean). In the western Pacific Ocean, it would be 0.125 which is 25% of 50 (total tropical storms in the western Pacific Ocean). The sum of both probabilities = 0.17, which is answer c.

How do bodies of water and river systems affect human activities in the Eastern Mediterranean
devlian [24]

The Eastern Mediterranean region is a region that has mostly semi-arid and arid climate, dominated by steppes and deserts. There are no lot of bodies of water and rivers, but the ones that are there are crucial for the survival of the people living there. Since the climate is very harsh and doesn't allow for people to live in larger groups in the mainland, almost all people live around the bodies of water and the rivers. The reason for that is that the bodies of water and the rivers enable the people to produce food, to travel easily, to trade, connect with the rest of the world, and the waters themselves are a big source of food, and of course the most important factor - they provide drinking water.
