The correct answer is AN ACTIVIST.

The answer is activist because of the meaning which the journalist gives to his works: he is trying to change the world and iinprove the lives of others with his writing.

The Cambridge Dictionary provides the meaning of ACTIVIST:

a person who strongly believes in political or social change and takes part in activities to bring his believes to reality.

Explanation:

This question is incomplete. According to a different source, the complete question is the following:

Which statement best reflects the central idea of "An Excerpt from Theodore Roosevelt: An Intimate Biography"?

A. Only men born into educated families could be successful in America.

B. Only men with backgrounds similar to Lincoln's background could be successful in America,

C. Only men with backgrounds similar to Roosevelt's background could be successful in America,

D. All men, regardless of their backgrounds, could be successful in America.

In the text  “An excerpt from Theodore Roosevelt: An intimate biography,” we learn about Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President  of the United States. However, he is also remembered for various other reasons, such as his interests in science (particularly conservation, naturalism, biology, zoology and taxidermy) and his strong personality.

In the text, we learn that Roosevelt was able to achieve this life not because of privilege, but due to his hard work. He was a sickly child who suffered from poor health and asthma. Moreover, he was homeschooled in an irregular way. Nevertheless, his dedication, intelligence and hard work allowed him to succeed. This story indicates, according to the text, that all men could be successful in America, regardless of their background or upbringing.

In what organizational pattern do you compare and contrast subjects as a whole?
kipiarov [429]
There are multiple ways of comparing and contrasting structures that each have different implications and dangers.

1. The back-and-forth method, in which every other sentence compares and contrasts. ie:
P1- theme
-p1 Book A is blah, whereas Book B is blah.
P2- theme
-p2 Book A is blah.... you get the point,
The danger of this method is sounding too redundant, although it does a good job of focusing on the themes.

2. The separate, mixed theme method, in which an entire paragraph is dedicated to each subject, but the themes are thus mixed up within those paragraphs. This method is less redundant but runs the risk of losing clarity of theme.

3. The compare vs. contrast method. This one is fairly straightforward: A paragraph comparing, a paragraph contrasting, and one of synthesis at the end. The pros: It's playing it safe, and it'll work. The cons: It's boring.

Combinations of these 3 methods work as well, it all depends on your personal writing style and the subjects you're comparing.

Good luck
