Answer:

There are many but one possible answer is a length of 4 and width of 6 for the smaller rectangle; and a length of 12 and width of 18 for the larger rectangle

Explanation:

So we know that two shapes on the same scale as each other also have the same ratio of values!

For example, a rectangle with a length of 3 and a width of 4 would have a ratio of 3:4. This means that a larger rectangle of the same ratio could have a length of 6 and a width of 8.

In this case though, our larger rectangle must have a length and width in the double digits. This would leave us with any number from 10-99!

We can choose any two numbers for the length and width of the smaller rectangle, but know that the size of the larger rectangle depends on the size of the smaller rectangle.

We can use a length of 4 and a width of 6 for the smaller rectangle, but remember that we can use any numbers from 1-10, I just chose this one.

Additionally, just to be more realistic, your width should be larger than your length.

Anyways though, if we use a length of 4 and a width of 6, then the ratio would be this: 3:6. Since ratios are similar to fractions, we can multiply 3/6 by any growth factor to get the larger rectangles values! I chose a growth factor of 3 (again, just to keep things realistic!).

4/6 * 3/3 = 12/18

These values are still proportional, and the outcomes are both double digits! Therefore, this could be one of your answers!

A and B are independent events. P(A)=0.40 and P(B)=0.30. what is P(A and B)?
Trava [24]

Answer:

C. 0.12

Step-by-step explanation:

Independent events

The outcome of one event does not affect the outcome of the other. If A and B are independent events then the probability of both ocurring is:

P(A and B) = P(A) x P(B)

With P(A) = 0.40 and P(B) = 0.30 then

P(A and B) = 0.40 x 0.30 = 0.12
