It lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 so those going to war could vote on the politicians deciding their future.

Further Explanation:

The 26th amendment decreased the voting age of United States people from 21 to 18. There was a long debate on lowering of the voting age which began during the time of world war-II. It got further intensified by the Vietnam War because men denied voting rights. In US Supreme Court case of Oregon versus Mitchell in 1970 in which Supreme Court ruled that right of regulating the minimum age in the federal election is with the Congress, but not at local and state level.

The slogan for youth rights movement was based on the ideology that people are never old to fight for a cause and never old enough so that they can vote. During the period of World War-II USA President Roosevelt reduced the age to 18. Georgia was the first state to reduce the voting age to 18 in 1943. The youth activists those who were fighting for voting rights held parades and presentations to focus the attention. Near about 60 resolutions were presented in the Congress to decrease the voting age. Then Congress made the voting rights legal document (act) of 1965 which contained this provision.

Answer: A. It lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 so those going to war could vote on the politicians deciding their future.

The 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution ensured that citizens over the age of eighteen had the right to vote in all states. It was proposed by Congress on March 23, 1971 and ratified on July 1, 1971.

The momentum to lower the voting age came with the military draft held during the Vietnam War. The draft conscripted young people older than 18 into the armed forces. The general feeling of the population was that if young people were joining the war, they deserved to have a say in government. A famous slogan that summarized this view was: "old enough to fight, old enough to vote."
