What noun does the underlined participle modify?
elena55 [62]

Answer:

The noun the underlined participle modifies is:

b. aspects.

Explanation:

In the sentence we are analyzing here, there is a present participle, "troubling". A present participle is formed by adding -ing to a verb stem (interesting, caring, loving, etc.). Present and past participles can function as adjectives, modifying nouns or pronouns in a sentence. That is precisely the case here, where "troubling" is modifying the noun "aspects", attributing a quality to it. For that reason, we can choose letter B as the best option.

Which of the following speeches begins with the quote: "Four score and seven years ago..."?
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

The Gettysburg Address

Explanation: The Gettysburg Address was a speech given by President Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1863, at the official dedication of the Soldiers National Cemetery (now called the Gettysburg National Cemetery) at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was an important occasion for the Nation to honor those who had given their lives during the Battle of Gettysburg.

On July 1-3, 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War (1861-1865). The Union North and Confederate South lost more than 7,000 men during the three-day battle. Over 45,000 were wounded, and more than 10,000 were captured or missing. The cemetery was planned as the final resting place for more than 3,500 Union soldiers who lost their lives at Gettysburg.

Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address begins with the words, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” A score is another way of saying 20, so Lincoln was referring to 1776, which was 87 years before 1863. Lincoln was declaring that the United States would continue to fight to preserve the nation that was created by the Founding Fathers who wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Answer:

Banquo talking to himself, wondering when his own predicted fate will be fulfilled.

Explanation:

These lines are spoken by Banquo in Act III scene i of the play "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare. It precedes the scene where he had been invited for a feast in his honor but before the other characters has arrived in the scene.

In this monologue, Banquo admits that now that Macbeth had acquired all the things that the three witches had prophesied, he also thinks that what had been prophesied about him might also come true. But he also admits that he thinks Macbeth had done foul play to get to where he is now. He also wonders when his own prophesied fate will be fulfilled and his descendants take on the throne of Macbeth.
