How does fitzgerald use gatsby's parties to present a satirical portrait of the roaring twenties?
tino4ka555 [31]
There is a lot of illegally shipped alcohol, which everyone gets's drunk and becomes rowdy. This was during the time prohibition was an illegal and organized crime involving "speakeasies" and such places that would smuggle alcohol. Many of guests were people who were usually dying to get in contact with Gatsby for maybe a job or some big break, they wanted to be rich and famous like him. It shows the "moral decay" and a huge amount of materialism that was running rampant in the 1920's when consumerism was on the rise. In the 1920's it was all fun and games until the huge economic depression of the 30's.

What will you do when your exam is more on reading comprehension that
Dominik [7]

Answer:

I will look for context clues within the text.

Explanation:

If the use of dictionaries is not allowed and the text has words that you do not know the meaning, the best option to make an efficient reading, understanding the text well is by looking for context clues.

The context clues allow you to know the meaning of a word through the context of the sentence, where that word is inserted, expressed. In that case, you can follow the reading without pausing to search for the word you don't know.

As an example of this, let's say you don't know the word "beau" which is a very old word meaning "boyfriend", "suitor". According to the sentence "My beau finally proposed to me" you would be able to understand the word "beau" by the context of the sentence. This is using context clues.

Helena works for a publishing firm. She is considered an average typist and can type 52 words/minute.If she continues at this rat
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

Helena types 208 words in four minutes.

Explanation:

If Helena types 52 words in one minute, then she will double that in two minutes, typing 104 words. If she types for four minutes, she types for two minutes, and then another two minutes, which can be written as 104+104, and 104+104=208. Therefore, Helena types 208 words in four minutes.
