The right answer is, D.It affects the tone of the story, which affects how theme is communicated. This isn't incorrect becuase, the word choice the author chooses can make a great change to the story. For example; if you say "That's big.", it has a really different tone of exaggeration from "That's gigantic!". So indeed, diction affects the tone.

Drupady [299]

Answer:

C) Apple Tress

Explanation:

In the poem, the narrator says,

"He is all pine and I am apple orchard.

My apple trees will never get across.

And eat the cones under his pines".

The above stanza shows that the narrator is growing apple trees, his neighbor is growing pine trees and the rest of the options as Corn, grapes and pears are not mentioned in the poem. So apple is the correct answer.
