Read the paragraph.
Anna [14]

Answer:

The answer is third-person limited.

Explanation:

Let's discuss the terms first.

1. Third-person omniscient occurs when the narrator includes all the voices of all the characters in a story. That is, a story is told from different points of view. In this paragraph, we only know about Ben, what he does, sees, his boss.

2. First person and third person. The narrator uses the third person to talk about Ben but he neves uses the first person, i.e. I or we.

3. First person. The story is narrated by the character himself/herself. We know everything from his point of view. The use of "I" and "we" will appear this narrative.

4. Third person limited. This is the correct answer. The narrator presents one character and closely follows him: what he does, what he says, his feelings and thoughts. The characters are described using pronouns (he,she, they, etc). In this paragraph, the narrator includes Ben. He is described as being on a bench on his lunch break, watching the birds eat. He doesn't like being late. He is thinking about why his boss is never around. Every action revolves around Ben and you can find the proun "he" to describe him.

nignag [31]

Mrs. Dashwood and her daughters Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret, become impoverished after the death of her husband. His farm, Norland in Sussex, must pass to John Dashwood, son of his first marriage. Although John promised his father to take care of his stepmother and sisters, his egotistical wife, Fanny, easily dissuades him from giving them part of his inheritance. The Dashwoods are treated as unwanted guests in their own home, and soon begin to look for another place to live.

Mrs. Dashwood and her daughters soon march from Norland to Barton Cottage in Devonshire. His landlord is Sir John Middleton, a distant cousin who generously offers them a low rent. He lives in Barton Park with his wife, cold and elegant, and her children.

During Defoe's time, what line of thinking greatly affected personal choice within the British society?
olasank [31]

During Daniel Defoe's time, the line of thinking that affected personal choice within British society was The Great Chain of Being. According to this model, there was a hierarchical structure of nature and life though to have been established by God as a master designer. This hierarchy was essentially unalterable, and men presented the highest form of life on Earth.

The influence of the Great Chain of Being can be traced in Daniel Defoe's work. Particularly in the way he thought of individuals of other races, like in "Robinson Crusoe" with Friday. This and other novels classify Africans or other natives as a missing link between European men and animals or beasts. The fixity of the Great Chain of Being implied that no progress could be made, granting European White superiority over natives of other areas.

What is a good strategy for encouraging collaborative conversation?
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

Encourage everyone to express their opinions freely.

Explanation:

Communication can be defined as a process which typically involves the transfer of information from one person (sender) to another (recipient), through the use of semiotics, symbols and signs that are mutually understood by both parties.

An effective communication can be defined as an act that typically involves conveying or disseminating information efficiently and effectively from an individual (sender) to another (recipient) without any redundancy. Thus, effective communication ensures that messages or information are transmitted properly, guarantees a feedback, lacks the use of harsh tones, ensures both parties are well understood, gives room for clarity etc.

A good strategy for encouraging collaborative conversation is to encourage everyone to express their opinions freely.

This ultimately implies that, none of the group members should be silenced or restricted from sharing their opinions, ideas or feelings about the subject matter (topic being discussed). This would go a long way to stimulate and promote collaborative conversation as many members would share their opinions and ideas freely.
