Concurrent powers are powers granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution as well as to the states governments (shared powers) and can be executed at the same time to the same territory. <em>The power to tax (levying taxes) </em><em>is an example of a concurrent power because </em><u><em>both the federal government and the states can impose taxes. </em></u>
