How does the author use symbolism in this poem to
develop its primary theme?
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

The primary use of symbolism in this poem is the symbolism of the rivers. The speaker, who represents African Americans, connects his history, and thus the history of African Americans, to the eponymous rivers. This history, which the speaker also equates with the African American "soul," is "deep" and "ancient," like the rivers. Different rivers referenced in the poem have different, specific symbolic meanings. The Euphrates, for example, was a river running near to Mesopotamia, an area often considered to be the birthplace of civilization.

In a small town in bear country, some citizens want the town council to require bear-proof trash cans. A citizen makes a speech
Neko [114]

Reasoning is defined as a logic or sensible thinking of someone regarding something. People can use reasoning as an adjective.

Valid Reasoning Invalid Reasoning

 • Bear-proof trash cans have been shown to be effective in other towns in this state. This reasoning is VALID because it provides evidence that bear-proof trashcans are effective.

 • If we want to show that we keep up with the latest methods, we need to require bear-proof trash cans. This reasoning is INVALID because it does not prove these types of cans.

 • If we can spend money on schools and the fire department, we can also spend it on bear-proofing. This reasoning is INVALID because, in order to spend money on something, it must be proven effective.

 • Last year, a tourist in town was mauled by a bear on trash day. This reasoning is VALID because there appears to be a connection between the tourist's death and the trashcans.

some people belive that the profit motive conflicts with the goals of economic security and equity. Do you agree or disagree
Dominik [7]
I agree with this statement to the fullest extent. A lot of our profiteers are very corrupt and there is a huge contrast between business and 'fair' business. Unfortunately, in our current society today most care about money opposed to the well being of the economy, our environment or their fellow brother.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more help or need further explanation! :)
