Both has their pros and cons. Someone might lean to the right because they are religious. It seems that most Christians are conservative. Yes, some Christians are democrats. Some democrats don't accept everything the left have to offer and same with the conservatives.
Politically leaning left would more than likely mean you have more liberal or republican, or democratic views. Leaning right means you are more for the communist, or liberal terrorism/communism side of things. - This is my thoughts on the topic. I did not google this, and this may not be completely factual.
