As this plate is heated, the materials that melt and are incorporated into the mantle that increases in volume to the point of creating cracks in the terrestrial surface. Most of these volcanic islands are located in the Pacific, in the most easterly region. A strong example of this type of phenomenon is the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
