The Cleveland Massacre was a three month time span in 1872, where the company called the Standard Oil Company acquired basically all of it's competing oil refineries in Cleveland, Ohio. For six weeks between the months of February and March, Standard Oil obtained 22 of 26 rival refineries at highly discounted rates.
