Cathy read about whales and learned that the average length of a blue whale is 80 feet. She also read that they can grow to be 9

4 feet long. Cathy wondered if the length of the blue whale is genetic.

Well if two whales mates and they were both 94 feet long it would most likely be genetic like with humans or animals.

For instance if a bangle tiger mates with an albino/ or white tiger there is a 50 percent chance that the baby’s would be banged and the other half white. It all depends on which genetic tiger is more dominant and which one is not. But the more dominant will win over the lesser one, and in the case of a tiger the white tiger genes are normally more dominant so there is a better chance of getting a white tiger cub then a bangle

How many ways are there to select a 5-card hand from a regular deck such that the hand contains at least one card from each suit
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

There are 685464 ways of selecting the 5-card hand

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the hand has 5 cards and there should be at least 1 card for each suit, then there should be 3 suits that appear once in the hand, and one suit that apperas twice.

In order to create a possible hand, first we select the suit that will appear twice. There are 4 possibilities for this. For that suit, we select the 2 cards that appear with the respective suit. Since there are 13 cards for each suit, then we have {13 \choose 2} = 78 possibilities. Then we pick one card of all remaining 3 suits. We have 13 ways to pick a card in each case.

This gives us a total of 4*78*13³ = 685464 possibilities to select the hand.

A car has a full tank of gas, holding
valina [46]

Answer:

The mileage of the car is 30 miles per gallon

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we are interested in calculating the gas mileage of the car.

The gas mileage refers to the number of kilometers the car can travel on a particular amount of fuel.

The full capacity of the car tank is 15 gallon

Now after traveling 300 miles, it stops for gas and 10 gallons of fuel are added to make the car full again.

What this means is that the car used up a total of 10 gallons of fuel for the 300 miles

Thus, the gas mileage of the car is that it used 10 gallons to travel a total of 300 miles

Expressing this as a ratio, we have 300 miles/10 gallons = 30 miles/ gallon

This means that on a gallon of fuel, the car can travel 30 miles

A plot of land in the shape of a vertical ellipse has a pole at each focus. The foci are 8 feet from the center. If the plot of
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

1. B

2.C

Step-by-step explanation:

A plot of land in the shape of a vertical ellipse. The equation of the ellipse is

\dfrac{x^2}{a^2}+\dfrac{y^2}{b^2}=1.

If the foci are 8 feet from the center, then c=8.

If the plot of land is 34 feet across the vertical axis, then 2b=34\Rightarrow b=17.

Use formula c=\sqrt{b^2-a^2} (because ellipse is vertical, then b>a) to find a:

8=\sqrt{17^2-a^2}\Rightarrow a^2=289-64=225,\ a=15.

Then  the plot of land is 2a=30 ft across the other axis.

If b>a, the eccentricity of the ellipse is

e=\dfrac{c}{b}=\dfrac{8}{17}\approx 0.471.

Integrated circuits consist of electric channels that are etched onto silicon wafers. A certain proportion of circuits are defec
boyakko [2]

Answer:

z=\frac{0.033 -0.05}{\sqrt{\frac{0.05(1-0.05)}{1000}}}=-2.467

p_v =P(Z>-2.467)=0.0068

So the p value obtained was a very low value and using the significance level assumed for example \alpha=0.05 we have p_v so we can conclude that we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis, and we can said that at 5% of significance the proportion of circuits that show evidence of undercutting is significantly less than 0.05.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Data given and notation

n=1000 represent the random sample taken

X=33 represent the number of circuits that show evidence of undercutting

\hat p=\frac{33}{1000}=0.033 estimated proportion of circuits that show evidence of undercutting

p_o=0.05 is the value that we want to test

\alpha represent the significance level

z would represent the statistic (variable of interest)

p_v represent the p value (variable of interest)

2) Concepts and formulas to use

We need to conduct a hypothesis in order to test the claim that they reduce the rate of undercutting to less than 5%.:

Null hypothesis:p\geq 0.05

Alternative hypothesis:p < 0.05

When we conduct a proportion test we need to use the z statistic, and the is given by:

z=\frac{\hat p -p_o}{\sqrt{\frac{p_o (1-p_o)}{n}}} (1)

The One-Sample Proportion Test is used to assess whether a population proportion \hat p is significantly different from a hypothesized value p_o.

3) Calculate the statistic

Since we have all the info requires we can replace in formula (1) like this:

z=\frac{0.033 -0.05}{\sqrt{\frac{0.05(1-0.05)}{1000}}}=-2.467

4) Statistical decision

It's important to refresh the p value method or p value approach . "This method is about determining "likely" or "unlikely" by determining the probability assuming the null hypothesis were true of observing a more extreme test statistic in the direction of the alternative hypothesis than the one observed". Or in other words is just a method to have an statistical decision to fail to reject or reject the null hypothesis.

The next step would be calculate the p value for this test.

Since is a left tailed test the p value would be:

p_v =P(Z>-2.467)=0.0068
