Relative deprivation is the lack of resources to sustain lifestyle, diet and activities. It is used by the social scientists to measure the social, political and economic deprivation.  

Sociologists and political scientists consider the relative deprivation to be reason for social movements which leads to civil wars and terrorism. Scholars explain that  social movements arise when people feel deprived. Similarly individuals engaged in such activities when their behaviour do no match their goals.
