Ok so what you want to do is replace the n with whatever number is in the parenthesis next to the f

The idea being, the notation is for a "serie" or sequence.

f(n-1)  simply means, "the value of the term before the current one", whilst "n" is the current term.

\bf \begin{array}{llll}
term&value\\
------&------\\
f(1)&-3\\\\
f(\stackrel{n}{2})&4[f(\stackrel{n}{2}-1)]+3[f(\stackrel{n}{2}-1)]\\
&4[f(1)]+3[f(1)]\\
&4(-3)+3(-3)\\
&-21\\\\
f(\stackrel{n}{3})&4[f(\stackrel{n}{3}-1)]+3[f(\stackrel{n}{3}-1)]\\
&4[f(2)]+3[f(2)]\\
&4(-21)+3(-21)\\
&-147\\\\
\end{array}

\bf \begin{array}{llll}
&\\
~~~~~~~~~~~~&~~~~~~~~~~~~\\
f(\stackrel{n}{4})&4[f(\stackrel{n}{4}-1)]+3[f(\stackrel{n}{4}-1)]\\
&4[f(3)]+3[f(3)]\\
&4(-147)+3(-147)\\
&-1029\\\\
f(\stackrel{n}{5})&4[f(\stackrel{n}{5}-1)]+3[f(\stackrel{n}{5}-1)]\\
&4[f(5)]+3[f(4)]\\
&4(-1029)+3(-1029)\\
\end{array}
Vanessa uses the expressions (3x2 + 5x + 10) and (x2 – 3x – 1) to represent the length and width of her patio. Which expression
butalik [34]
To find the answer to this, you have multiply both expressions by each other. To do this, you have to multiply each term in the first expression by each term in the second expressions. This yields the following: 3x^4-9x^3-3x^2+5x^3-15x^2-5x+10x^2-30x-10. Combing like terms and simplifying gives the final expression: 3x^4 - 4x^3 - 8x^2 - 35x - 10
A cylinder has a radius of 1 inch and a height of 1 inch. what is the approximate volume of the cylinder round to the nearest hu
melisa1 [442]
Answer:3.14
Step-by-step explanation:
Volume of cylinder can be calculated by using the formula V= pir^2h
Where r is radius of cylinder and h is the height.
A cylinder with radius 1 inch and height of 1 inch is given.
r=1,h=1,π=3.14.
Substituting the given values :
V=3.14(1)^2(1)
Volume of cylinder rounded to nearest tenth is 3.14 cubic inches .
2) write a linear function that passes through point ( 3, 6) and is perpendicular to Y=2X-1.
masya89 [10]
Y=-1/2x+c
Using (3,6)
6=-1/2(3)+c
6=-3/2+c
C=6+3/2
C=15/2
Equation:-1/2x+15/2
