Mary Tudor (Mary I or Bloody Mary)
Mary Tudor took the throne following the death of Henry VIII who had moved England from Catholicism to the Church of England after a divorce dispute with the Pope.
Mary Tudor was a Catholic and the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon (Henry's first wife). Henry made England a Protestant country and formed the Church of England. This caused religious conflict in England and with the coronation of Mary Tudor the goal was to return England back to the Catholic Church.
