Root hairs have hair like extensions which help increase the surface for absorption of water and mineral salts from the soil. It is similar in function to the villi of the intestinal tract which also has hair like extensions to increase the surface area for absorption of nutrients.

  • On the tip of sugarcane, apical or tip region meristem are found. When the tip region is removed, the presence of intercalary meristems play the role by facilitating the elongation of stems in sugarcane.
