It was very, very important for women to start working during the war because so many people were deployed that the demand for jobs in factories and other places was far higher than there were people available. Also, there were not enough women in the workforce at that time to fill those open positions. They filled many jobs in making supplies for war (that would normally be filled by men). Initially it was difficult to recruit the women (who were originally fitting the bill of "housewives"), and this is where those "We Can Do It" signs with "Rosie the Riveter" came about.

Match the Western nations to their colonies.
alisha [4.7K]

United States--Philippines

France--Vietnam

Great Britain--India

The Netherlands--Indonesia

These colonies were obtained during the period of imperialism during the mid to late 1800's. The colonies were obtained to gain access to raw material resources as well as markets. They were also strategic areas for military ports and naval bases. The imperial holdings were kept as colonies until the 20th century.

Why did young women who were known as "flappers" in the 1920s often face disapproval?
baherus [9]
I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option A. Young women who were known as "flappers" in the 1920s often face disapproval because they rejected traditional ideas about women's appearance and behavior. Hope this answers the question.
