In normal healthy people, the greatest secretion of human growth hormone is release during the first period of stage 3 sleep at night. Stage 3 sleep is called slow wave sleep where it is considered as restorative sleep. It occurs about an hour after you first fall asleep and to release the hormone, a consistent sleep schedule must be followed and an exercise during the day.

During   early phases of this stage the HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is released by the brain (pituitary gland).  This is especially significant for the growth of a child during maturation.  The release of the hormone is pulse-like and not continuous.</span>
