The smaller number is 'x' .
The larger number is (x+ 20)

Their sum is [ x + (x + 20 ]

2x + 20 = 44

Subtract 20 from each side:

2x = 24

Divide each side by 2 :

x = <u>12</u>
and
x + 20 = <u>32</u>

Let the numebrs be x and y.

x + y = 44
x = y + 20

Substituting the value of x,

(y + 20) + y = 44

2y + 20 = 44
2y = 24
y = 12.

x = y + 20
x = 12+ 20

Thus, x = 32.

Thus, the two numbers are 32 and 12.

Which of the following is the graph of the solution set of t – 4 ≥ 4t + 8 or 3t &gt;14 – 4t?
Stells [14]

Answer:

Option (C)

Step-by-step explanation:

There are two inequalities,

t - 4 ≥ 4t + 8 ------(1)

3t > 14 - 4t ------(2)

By simplifying inequality (1),

t - 4 ≥ 4t + 8

t ≥ 4t + 8 + 4

t ≥ 4t + 12

t - 4t ≥ 12

-3t ≥ 12

t ≤ \frac{12}{(-3)}

t ≤ -4

By solving inequality (2),

3t > 14 - 4t

3t + 4t > 14

7t > 14

t > \frac{14}{7}

t > 2

From the given graphs, Option (C) will be the answer.
