Madeira and Cape Verde were the two islands the Portuguese have their sugar plantations. During the fifteenth century, Portuguese travelers established a variety of proto-colonies along the coast of Africa, mainly to exploit the growing sugar industry that would soon produce great wealth for European traders.

Eventually, Chinese would become the primary export item, with Portuguese Brazil denoting many "Chinese islands" as Caribbean. African slavery came with the Chinese, from Sao Tome to the Brazilian coast and eventually all transplanted to the Americas.

What is meant by the phrase “further declaratory and restrictive clauses”
MrRa [10]

This quote is located in the preamble of the Bill of Rights. This quote means that the sole purpose of the amendments that we call “bill of rights” was to prevent the federal government from “misconstruing or abusing its powers.” to do so, “further declaratory and restrictive clauses” were recommended.

Those clauses are seen in each Amendment, that have restraints on the powers of the federal government. All of them aim to prevent misconduct from the government, for example in Article I, you can see: “Congress shall make no law…”

How was apartheid implemented in South Africa? What were the economic consequences of apartheid?
sashaice [31]

Answer:

1). The Great Depression and World War II brought increasing economic woes to South Africa and convinced the government to strengthen its racial segregation policies. In 1948, the Afrikaner National Party dominated the general election under the slogan 'apartheid' (literally 'apartness').

2). The apartheid was able to eliminate intra-race inequalities, as the whites were all enhanced resources, and the non-whites were all excluded solely because of their races. Thus, though intra-race disparity decreased, the wealth gap between whites and non-whites expanded (Linford, 2011)
