Lastly, would be serfs who were of the lowest social class, they were basically citizens who had to work to survive and could own property as opposed to slaves.

How did eli Whitney’s invention of the cotton gin affect the cotton industry

Because of Eli Whitney's invention the production of cotton  speeded up the process of removing the seeds from cotton fiber.  Also, the cotton gin reduced the  number of  workers needed to remove the seeds. However, it did increase the number of slaves needed to harvest cotton.
