Thomas Paine wrote "Common Sense" to persuade people into supporting independence against Britain. This document became really important because 6 months after it was published, the Declaration of Independence was signed.
"Common Sense" pointed out the absurdity of continued loyalty to King George III, since the British Parliament and Monarchy where not treating the colonies right.
