Umayyad Caliphate was one of the four prominent caliphates established after the demise of  Muhammad. The caliphate emerged under the region of the Umayyad dynasty established by the Uthman Ibn Affan, the third caliph. The caliphate was able to influence 33 million people with an approximate area of 4,300,000sqmi, being the largest empire in history.

The dynasty continued the Muslim conquest and incorporated  Transoxiana, Sindh, Iberian Peninsula, and Maghreb into the worlds of Muslims. By the end of the 6th century, Umayyads were able to create a dominant and prosperous trade relationship with the Seria and Yemen of the South, established a military and economic alliance with the nomadic Arabian tribes of the north and a transversed caravans of the Arabian desert provided them a strong political power the whole region.

The 14th and 15th Amendments provided rights and Constitutional protect for blacks in addition to giving them the power to vote. However, Southern governments found ways around the amendments to prevent blacks from exercising their full rights.

Positive : Payment of Poll tax was a prerequisite to the registration for voting in a number of states until 1965

Negatives: Poll tax affected poor Americans. After the right to vote was extended to all races (black people) a number of states enacted poll tax.. so basically they did that because they knew a lot of black people didn’t have money like that and didn’t want them to vote.
