The correct answer is option D.

PERSONIFICATION is the figure of speech in which human characteristics are attributed to things.

In this case, the engine is supposed to have shrieked angrily which is something a person could do. In addition, in the same sentence, we have "wheels made the sand jump and dance", another example of personification.

Hence, in option D the engine and the wheels have been personified.
