Nick makes a good narrator because he tends to be the unbiased party. He can be considered reliable because many of the character choose to trust him. He also depicts a character of a well-educated and honest narrator. He is an average person, which allow him to make connections with the audience. Just like one of lines in the story where he said, “You see I usually find myself among strangers because I drift here and there trying to forget the sad thing that happened to me.”, which is a familiar experience in true-life.  On the other hand, he is an unreliable narrator because of the fact that, even though he claims to be non-judgmental, he lets his judgments of people be swayed by his own standards and expectations and misstate his descriptions.
