One day after we left a shop I said under my breath, “I wish you wouldn’t do that, telling everybody I’m your daughter.” My moth

er stopped walking. Crowds of people with heavy bags pushed past us on the sidewalk, bumping into first one shoulder, then another. “Aiii-ya. So shame be with mother?” She grasped my hand even tighter as she glared at me. I looked down. “It’s not that, it’s just so obvious. It’s just so embarrassing.” “Embarrass you be my daughter?” Her voice was cracking with anger. “That’s not what I meant. That’s not what I said.” “What you say?” I knew it was a mistake to say anything more, but I heard my voice speaking, “Why do you have to use me to show off? If you want to show off, then why don’t you learn to play chess?” My mother’s eyes turned into dangerous black slits. She had no words for me, just sharp silence. Conflicts are used in literature to drive stories. There are two types of conflict, external and internal. The type of conflict that is present in the passage given above is EXTERNAL CONFLICT AND IT HAPPEN BETWEEN LINDO AND MEIMEI. Read the passage from "The City Without Us" by Alan Weisman:
BaLLatris [955]

The ideas discussed in the passage are

C. Nature can destroy creations that were thought indestructible; humans aren't as powerful as the forces of nature.

Explanation:

The passage given here is principally concerned with the nature of the power of nature over humans. In that, the nature can and will be superior over whatever the human power will achieve as it can make it erode and wither away.

Even the things that the humans would think would be indestructible are fairly easy to collapse and to destroy.

So the permanence of the human power over nature is disputed here in the two concurrent ideas of the destructibility of everything and nature's dominion over humans.

Then write an essay in which you develop a position on Sandel’s claim that for the common good, citizens should open address mor
AysviL [449]

Answer:

I agree to Micheal J. Sandel's statement in his book, and believe that people shall voice their opinion on public policy matters and should be respected for their unique opinions.

Explanation:

the open addressing of moral disagreements while formulating public policy will improve tolerance among people. It will become a norm to remain publicly active and ensure societal attachment to some extent. In this way, the general public will remain informed about current policies made for them and will have the privilege to be heard as these policies directly affects the lives of common people. Moral disagreements are healthy and helps in growing free and opinionated societies.  Moreover, when people voice their opinions, the educated class in the society helps the ignorant in knowing their rights and policies made for their benefit.
