I found this "gem" like rock in my front-yard when I was digging. Can anyone help me identify it? I would be more than grateful!

It’s cool that you found that! You can try identifying it by its luster, color, breakage, etc, Try getting a piece of paper or something, scrap it on the paper, and see what it leaves behind. That’s a way many scientists identify rocks/crystals. You can also google types of rocks and see if you find a match. You always need to look at its color, as the color is the most distinctive feature of a rock. If you’ve since all of these things and your very serious about it, you can try calling somewhere or someone who would know (like a scientist who studies rocks).

How do animals and humans cause erosion ?
erastova [34]

Animals cause erosion in other ways too. When too many animals live in one place, they tend to eat and trample all the plants. Without the plants to protect the soil, it is much more likely to be eroded by wind and water. Animals cause weathering and erosion on rocky shorelines.

Which statement is TRUE?
Phantasy [73]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

All living organisms ranging from unicellular prokaryotes to multicellular eukaryotes contain genetic material (DNA). This genetic material is usually found on structures called CHROMOSOMES. Although, the chromosomes are contained in the genome of all living organisms, there are differences.

The genetic material of the bacteria (a typical prokaryote) is a single DNA molecule that makes up its single circular chromosomal material, unlike in eukaryotes that contains double-stranded DNA molecules on linear chromosomes. This single circular chromosome of bacteria is found naked in a region of their cell called NUCLEOID, as they do not possess a membrane-bound nucleus that houses it (a unique characteristics of eukaryotes).

The mitochondrial and Chloroplast DNA mentioned in the other options are all components of eukaryotic cells. Bacteria, as a prokaryote does not contain this organnelles. Hence, they are not single replica.

Why is the sunset red or orange?
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

According to the science magazine Scientific American, the sunset is reddish because, when the sun is setting, the light that reaches you has had to go through lots more atmosphere than when the sun is overhead, hence the only colour light that is not scattered away is the long wavelength light, the red.
