During prophase the DNA condenses into chromosomes and fibers begin to extend from the centromeres, the part of the chromosomes that links the two arms,or chromatids. During metaphase, the chromosomes move to the center of the cell and are aligned in a area known the metaphase plate. Anaphase is the phase of mitosis during which the chromosomes begin to move toward opposite sides of the cell. The chromosomes move towards the centriols in a way that one chromosomes from each pair move towards each pole. During telophase, the chromosomes reach the poles and new nuclear membranes form around the chromosomes, creating the nuclei for two new cells. The chromosomes decondense and the cell splits into two daughter cells, each with a nucleus.

Explain in your own words two ways that we know the cell clones carry the recombinant plasmids
Nata [24]
Plasmid is a small, circular, double-stranded DNA molecule that is distinct from a cell's chromosomal DNA. Plasmids naturally exists in bacterial cells, and they also occur in some eukaryotes. The genes carried in plasmids provide bacteria bacteria with genetic advantages, such as antibiotic resistance. To know whether the cell carry recombinant plasmids; only cells with a plasmid will reproduce and also the color of the colonies in E. coli plasmid recombination experiments allows scientists to distinguish colonies with recombinant plasmids from those without.

Differentiate between meristematic and permanent tissues.<br>
Anna [14]

Explanation:

The difference between Meristematic Tissue and Permanent Tissue are:

  • Meristematic tissue always has a prominent nucleus. Permanent tissue has a prominent nucleus in some like parenchyma while not in others like sclerenchyma.
  • Meristematic tissue has cells small in size and isodiametric in shape. Permanent tissue has cells large in size and their shape varies.
