During prophase the DNA condenses into chromosomes and fibers begin to extend from the centromeres, the part of the chromosomes that links the two arms,or chromatids. During metaphase, the chromosomes move to the center of the cell and are aligned in a area known the metaphase plate. Anaphase is the phase of mitosis during which the chromosomes begin to move toward opposite sides of the cell. The chromosomes move towards the centriols in a way that one chromosomes from each pair move towards each pole. During telophase, the chromosomes reach the poles and new nuclear membranes form around the chromosomes, creating the nuclei for two new cells. The chromosomes decondense and the cell splits into two daughter cells, each with a nucleus.

A cell with 80 chromosomes undergoes meiosis. How many chromosomes are found in the daughter cells? How many daughter cells are
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

1.) 80 chromosomes in each of the daughter cells. 2.) Two daughter cells are produced. 3.) The daughter cells are identical.

Explanation:

1.) In mitosis, a parent cell divides to form two daughter cells through the mitosis phases creating the same amount of chromosomes for each daughter cell as the parent cell.

2.) The parent cell divides to form the two daughter cells in cytokinesis.

3.) The daughter cells are direct replicas of the chromosomes in the parent cell unless there is a mutation in the DNA when it is being copying.
