Answer:

USA's Week of Welcome is designed to show new freshman and transfer students all the places you belong at South Alabama. From the moment our new students set foot in Housing at Move-In Day, through their First Night on campus, Convocation, and Get-on-Board Day, we have designed a schedule full of events — both academic and social — to highlight our special campus community.

Our goal is to help you get connected with the people, places, and groups that will make sure your time at South is spectacular. You will have the opportunity to meet students across a wide range of areas, learn about new organizations, and discover opportunities to connect with faculty in learning experiences ranging from the classroom to the Gulf of Mexico.

We look forward to meeting you at one of these opening events. Welcome to South Alabama

Answer:

Very (1) few  cities in Europe are like Lisbon,  Portugal's unique capital. Apart from its distinctive fado music  and incredible cuisine, visitors notice something else - the (2)  amount of graffiti that can be seen across the city.  There's something special about (3) much  of the  graffiti. Lisbon has so (4) many  empty buildings that  the city asked graffiti artists to decorate them with giant murals.  In fact, it is estimated that the (5) number  of abandoned  buildings just in the city centre is over 4,000. Crumbling buildings  that were boarded up have come to life again as canvasses for  urban artists.  (6) Some  residents believe that it has brightened up  the city centre and added to its charm, but others disagree. They  have (7) little  interest in urban art and would prefer  to have (8) no  graffiti at all.

Explanation:

The question above relies on our knowledge of countable and uncountable nouns. Words such as "few", "many", "some", and "number" accompany countable nouns, that is, nouns that can be quantified and used in the plural form. On the other hand, words such as "much" and "little" are used with uncountable nouns. Some words, such as "amount" and "no" can actually be used with both types of nouns, so it will really depend on the context to choose where to place them.

What does a writer need to develop a main idea?
Inessa05 [86]

The correct answer is D. Supporting evidence

Explanation:

In writing, the main idea is the main point the author writes about which is usually connected to an argument, position, point of view, etc. This main or central idea is the one that guides all the process of writing and that is introduced in the first paragraph, then developed in the body paragraph and restated or summarized in the last paragraphs. Additionally, main ideas are commonly developed through supporting evidence that includes sub-ideas, reasons, quotes, example, statistics, etc organized in multiple paragraphs. Thus, a writer needs to develop the main idea by using supporting evidence.
